the problem with all of these brands who (try desperately) to start their own networks/communities is that they think their brand actually matters.
i don’t watch abc.
i watch lost.i don’t watch nbc.
i watch the office.i don’t watch cw.
…so it seems that the problem is not only with corporate ego, but research. any worthwhile research would have told them that users ostensibly don’t care who gives them the content as long as they get it.
Putting the notion that we “watch the shows, not the networks” up to examination for a second, how far out are we before the power shifts from the broadcasters to the producers? Kind of a free agency type of thing..
Case in point, Scrubs recent move from NBC to… wherever they are. Crap, it’s an awful idea.
